You'll find a blend of Sydney's best at The Rocks: traditional handicrafts with cutting edge design, a classic French patisserie, the oldest pub in the country, panoramic harbour views and narrow sandstone-paved alleys. And a wonderful way to experience this ever-evolving district is to set aside a day (or two) and go shopping!

You'll find most stores on George, Playfair and Argyle Streets, although there are plenty out-of-the-way gems. For an iconic Australian purchase try Done
Art and Design, Opal Fields for Australian jewellery, or the sheepskin shops for all manner of things made from Australian wool.

The Rocks is also home to highly individual shops which defy categorisation: the Puppet shop - with marionettes and masks from all around the world,
Sticky - sweets for all tastes, or the Card Framing Company, for example. The Rocks Centre offers retail therapy as does Playfair Terrace.
